Public Records Act Working Party

 The Public Records Act Working Party was convened in 2006 to:

  • To provide advice and make recommendations as appropriate to Vice-Chancellors and Universities New Zealand – Te Pōkai Tara on matters relating to the Public Records Act 2005 (PRA).
  • To provide the universities with guidance for complying with the requirements of the PRA;
  • To provide advice to the universities on the implementation strategies for compliance with the PRA;
  • To provide advice on the university response to the audit requirements and the programme of audit which begin in 2010;
  • To identify strategic opportunities for collaboration and cost savings and for sharing best practice;
  • To be the principal contact with Archives New Zealand on behalf of the universities.

 

PRAW facilitated the development of the General Disposal Authority for New Zealand Universities.  A copy can be obtained from the Archives New Zealand website. 

 

The Chair of PRAW is Pam Thorburn, Director - CSA , Central Student Administration, Victoria University of Wellington.
